Visit of students from the University of Navarra

On the 3rd of February, 40 students of the Biochemistry degree of the University of Navarra (UNAV) visited our facilities.

The visit was divided into 2 groups due to the current situation of COVID. The students, together with their professor Guillermo Martinez-de-Tejada (Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Navarra) and María Orbe (Secretary of the department), visited the LEV2050 facilities.

First of all, we showed them the biomass production plant we have at LEV2050. In this plant we carry out tailor-made industrial biomass growths of any type of microorganism. These can be yeasts, bacteria and lysates of both, as well as fungi, proteins and enzymes. At LEV2050, we comply with strict traceability analysis and viability and contamination control. In this way we are able to provide our customers with the best product quality.

After that, they had the chance to go up to our laboratories to find out how we work at LEV2050. In the laboratory is where we carry out the studies, such as the yeast study (study to know the biodiversity of the microbiota present in very specific areas of each winery through the isolation, identification, selection and characterisation of yeasts), the study of personalised nutrition (the aim is to obtain personalised nutrients for each winery) or the study of wine without sulphur (we use our own tannic extracts and different native lysates with the capacity to trap oxygen as antioxidants), among others.

The students were able to learn a little more about industrial microbiology, and were able to ask us questions about our company and our sector.

We hope to see you again very soon!
