End of campaign: bioreactors & customised yeasts
Hello everybody!
As you know, at LEV2050 we work in different food sectors, including the wine sector. Now that we are at the end of the 2021 harvest, we can make a summary of the results achieved in terms of the installation of our patented bioreactors, as well as the production of the wineries’ personalised yeast or bacteria.
Bioreactors

This year, we have installed more than 50 bioreactors in many wineries in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. We also installed some in Argentina and Chile at the beginning of the year.
We have shipped equipment of different capacities ranging from 150 litres to 2,500 litres. These bioreactors can be of our 2 models: BR-LEV-LC and BR-CV.
The BR-LEV-LC model bioreactors are patented automated bioreactors that allow the multiplication of all types of yeasts, bacteria and fungi, as well as lees battonage or lysates and obtain mannoprotein fractions. All this is applicable to fermentation processes as well as in the soil, by biofertilisation and biocontrol.
The BR-CV model is a patented model that in addition to multiplying yeast, bacteria, battonage lees and lysing microorganisms, has an additional exclusive function: yeast growth and subsequent controlled adaptation to ethanol. They carry out automated vat feet for sparkling wine tirage.
Biomass
On the other hand, for this campaign we have had the production plant at full capacity to produce tailor-made biomass (our own yeasts, bacteria, or lysates of both) for the different wineries. These yeasts or bacteria from each winery, obtained thanks to the studies we have carried out to isolate, identify, select and characterise these microorganisms, have led to very good results in fermentation as well as in the first organoleptic tastings carried out by our customers.
We have custom-produced more than 200 different types of yeast, specific to our customers. All these yeasts have been used to vinify around 1.2% of Spain’s wine production. We have also custom produced for other wineries in France, Italy and Portugal.
More and more wineries are opting to use their own microorganisms and to give their wines a unique character.
