DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED SOLUTION FOR BIOCONTROL AND BIOFERTILISATION
LEV2050, Unión de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Navarra (UAGN) and Artajo join forces to provide a global solution to a need currently present in the agricultural sector and with increasing incidence: to develop solutions to improve soil health and nutrition through biofertilisation and biocontrol of crops in an efficient, sustainable, specific, high-yielding and widely usable way.
In this way, the detrimental effects of chemical use on the environment will be minimised, nutrient utilisation will be improved and, given the improved soil health, crop protection will be maximised.
Developing a solution to improve agriculture
This is a solution that seeks not only to improve soil and crop nutrition and protect key crops in Navarre’s agriculture and representative areas, but also to make its use accessible to the main players through the development of new bioreactors.
The traditional way of nourishing and protecting crops is based on the use of chemical fertilisers and phytosanitary products, with a contribution of macronutrients aimed at the specific needs of the plant and subject to strict legislation due to the serious harmful effects on the environment caused by excessive use, which has led to the need to seek new ways of fertilising crops in a sustainable way.
Innovative approach of the AGRINOVO project
On the one hand, it aims to improve soil nutrition through the use of biofertilisers, thus optimising the soil-plant binomial and its biota, generating an ecosystem that supports the development of crops in a more sustainable and efficient way. In addition, the plant increases its resilience to the presence of pests and diseases by acquiring more resistant characteristics. Therefore, under these premises, the reduction in the use of fertilisers and pesticides demanded by the European Green Pact can be achieved.
Despite the fact that biofertilisers and biophytosanitary products have been used in the sector for years, there is a clear reluctance to use them, due, among other reasons, to their high economic cost, the technical complexities of application and a sector with established methodologies that is reluctant to introduce new technologies that have sometimes generated controversy and are very sensitive in their handling.
With the aim of offering a solution to these limitations and minimising environmental impact, AGRI-NOVO, a project developed by LEV2050, UAGN and ARTAJO, has emerged as the optimal solution to fertilisation and crop protection in a sustainable, accessible, specific and economical way.
